Design Wall Monday 4/8/2013

I finally finished all 168 flying geese units. It took me a little over a week since I didn't sew every day but they are done.

I ended up doing them the old school way, cutting the triangles and sewing them on. The sewing was the easy part, the trimming down was another story. I now have them all sewn into sets of 4 and will sew them into strips. Hopefully I can get to them this week and then the top quilted and bound and to work next week.

Were supposed to be getting a big storm tomorrow. I'm already wishing I could stay home and snow but I have to work, unless it is bad enough to close the schools.  I can only hope.

Off to start dinner, football practice and some knitting. Although, that hexi bug is really starting to hit...but I have to finish Dear Jane first...34 blocks left....

I really have been busy...kinda

I really have been busy for the most part. I just get tired of only sewing Dear Jane and then not having anything else to blog about but Dear Jane..so I just stay away.  It is kind of crazy because I do the same with sewing...I don't want to work on DJ anymore but I have to for class so I procrastinate until I have less than a week left and then force myself into the sewing room. Unfortunately I haven't been sewing alot becasue of this either.

Good news is I do love my DJ (even though I am super tired of it) and I only have 3 more months to go.  I am going to push to be done in June instead of July.  I just need a break from it for sure.  I want to be able to go sew crazy chain piecing quilts tops for a while that is for sure.

Anywho...I finished by last DJ for the month and decided to work on my FQS BOM that I had been keeping up with until the move.  I had 3 blocks to do so that is what I did..for some reason though I misplaced my picture of the 3rd block..hmm

For some reason the last one took me forever. I couldn't sew the rows together correctly to save my hide..after a number of attempts and unsewing it is done.

Have a great day everyone,

Michelle

Flying Geese

What do you get when you get a layer cake, pattern and some yardage?

A ton of flying geese waiting to be assembled.

I cut all of the fabric the other day and I can honestly say I have procrastinated the starting of this project.  Why? The knitting has been calling me...well that is my story and I am sticking to it.

Of course from this picture it doesn't look quit as bad.  In person those triangles are very tall buildings I hope to leap with a single bound soon....zero down 168 to go...

Come back soon. I hope to have an update by..well the end of the week anyway.

Pooling Yarn Selections 2

The link over at Judy's doesn't like the same post. So I am splitting the pictures.

This one I started yesterday...it is on 2.75mm cubics needles with 64 stitches cast on.  I think I will call these my ice cap socks. For some reason the colors remind me of Antartica...why I don't know...blues, whites, grays...hope to see some pooling soon.

Pooling Challenge - Starting Over

I recently post the problems I had with the pooling challenge. Well, I decided to start over.  I ventured out and found some new yarn and needles so I am fresh and at it again.

At the time I took the pictures I didn't know what yarn would go with what needles. I ended up casting on the first yarn with my new Karbonz but had to change them for my regular wooden needles.  Black needles and black/dark blue yarn is not easy.

I will post more as I get farther along. Hope everyone is having great luck with this wonderful experiment.
