On the Needles 8/30/13

Can believe August is almost over? I can't.

I finally finished my Camp Loopy 3 project yesterday, talk about cutting it close. I chose a very easy (and boring) project because I really didn't think I would be able to get it done. We had to use 800 yards, I used 894. I still have to wash and block it but right now I am considering it done.

I found the pattern for this on Purlbee.  I think I will be working on dish cloths for the next little bit.  Although, I have a friend visiting and she showed me this really neat sampler afghan made with 12" squares, that might be a project that jumps up in the line.

Have a great and safe weekend everyone.

Design Wall Monday 8/26/13

You would think with the start of school it would be calm.  NOT! My boys started school last Monday and it has been a whirlwind of a week, of course throw in football and soccer, and that will explain it all.

I also realized that I became a Freshman this year again as well, algebra and German have been my classes this past week.

I was able to get some sewing done, today. I didn't touch the machine at all last week.

I pulled fabric and started working on QOV blocks for Alycia. I am hoping to get the first batch done by tomorrow. I have finished 10, only 10 more to go.

I am off to do some errands. I get the tornado for sleepover tonight (aka. my niece) so there will be no sewing. Just knitting, I have to get that Camp Loopy project done this week. I only have 16 more rows and the bind off. I can do it....

Have a great week and for more Design Walls head on over to Judy's

Design Wall Monday 8/12/13

Still chugging along. I did a couple more blocks yesterday before stopping watch my niece. I then went up and knitted and knitted and knitted.  I will get it done come hell or high water that's for sure.

I have 16 blocks of my Short Story Schnibble's done. I am hoping between today and tomorrow to finish them up and then I can get the top done.
Still need to come up with a name for this one. Pink lemonade, Tequila sunrise. Who knows.

I am off most of this week but have chauffeur duty.  Soccer tryouts every night and football practice every night. It is back to cooking dinner and piling in the fridge until they come home and ravage it. I always feel weird cooking dinner at home alone then shoving it in the fridge but what else can you do.

I did get my next batch of Sylvia's blocks done too..still not liking those set in seams.

Churn Dash

54-40 or Fight

Bride's Bouquet

Glorified Nine Patch (applique style)

Farmers Daughter

Making progress slowly but surely. I have 64 out of 140 done and 2 of the applique blocks in progress. Good news is I am really not getting tired of this one yet. Unlike Dear Jane.

On The Needles 8/9/13

I am slowly but surely working my Camp Loopy 3 project. I was doing good then realized I didn't like the way the sides were turning out so before I had to change colors I ripped out and started over. I now feel like I am way behind.

I have one row left on the second color then I can move on to the third. I really hope I can power through this and get it done. My fingers hope so to.

This will have a total of 7 different colors in it. Not bad for a simple baby blanket. It is times like these I really wish I knit quicker. Don't think it will happen anytime soon though.

1/7th Done

It is that time of year again. School. I take to and from in the morning for soccer practice for my new freshman and this week football starts for the junior high kiddo. I also have dentists appointments, haircuts, orientations, school supplies and the list goes on.

But I have been able to knit and do some sewing. I am working on a total of 4 samples for the store.  Two with the new hexagon pre-cuts and my last two Schnibbles and also my Sylvia's Bridal Sampler.

This last Schnibble is going to take a little time. It is Short Story and I am using some batiks. I had cut everything last week and planned on starting then.  Yeah right.

Grab 2 of each size in each color.

Fold nice and pretty to find the center.

Sew together and press. Of course you press to the larger piece so that takes a little extra precaution.

Handy Dandy Companion Angle Ruler. Line up the 1 1/4 on the seam line, center the ruler in the middle of the top piece so your notches are even. Trim

Nice and pretty trimmed.

Layout the block and prepare to sew.

Found out the corners line up perfectly when the notches match up.

Press.

Trim down to 4 1/4 in square.

Repeat 48 more times.

I have seven done so I am 1/7th of the way done. I get about 4 blocks done in an hour so maybe I can get them done by the middle of next week.  I have to spend sometime getting caught up on Camp Loopy. I fell behind, imagine that.

Have a great day everyone.

A winter Schnibble

I really have been sewing a little bit. I have another sample top done for the store. I just have to quilt it.  Hopefully I can get that done next week.

Winter White Schnibbles using Snowman Gatherings

I am hoping to quilt it with circles radiating out.  I am thinking about using my circular foot on my Bernina.  Will have to see how that works out.

Off to knit.

On the Needles 8/2/2013

Can you believe it is already August? I can't.  Only a couple of weeks until my kiddo's go back to school. I will have a Freshman this year, so it is carpooling to 2 different schools at 2 different times every day.  Fun times for sure.

I was able to finish my Camp Loopy 2 project early, totally shocked at that.

Of course it was another scarf.

Here is my yarn choice for Camp Loopy Project 3...I have to use 800 yards and for me that is going to be tough. I have to finish earlier than required so that when my company comes I won't have to worry about it. I am aiming to be done in 3 weeks. Hope it works.

I am making a baby blanket. Simple. Simple.  I found the pattern on Purlbee. I have already cast on and finished 6 ridges. I have to do 8 a day to be done in time.

Guess I better go get my chores done then knit some and sew some.
