I have a finish. I do. I do.

I finally finished the fingerless mitts I was doing. So that will be really nice for my stash numbers, until add the dream club that came in. Oh well! What can you do?

I am now ready for Camp Loopy when it starts on Sunday. I am still trying to figure out what yarn to use.

I am making the Wingspan.  What yarn do you think? I am leaning towards the blue because it has more than 400 yards on it (which is the minimum for the challenge) but I bought the black/red. Which is self striping. Hmmm....decisions, decisions.

Off to do some things around the house so I can knit all day Sunday. By then I am sure my body will need it.

Yarn Report 5/16/2014

I do have some stuff completed. I think I still have more coming in though. It is a never ending cycle for sure.

I finished a cowl and a hat for sailors. You can see those in the previous post. So that was 216 yards plus 110 yards for a total of 326 yards used.

I acquired the following.

Left - Fibernymph Die Works - The Roof is on Fire - 400 yds - for Camp Loopy

Middle - Studio June Yarn - Eight Bells - 400 yds - just because

Right - Desert Vista Dyeworks - Bluberry Hill (self striping) - 462 yds - might end up being used in Camp loopy as well. Still not decided.

On The Needles 5/16/2014

I can't believe it has been almost a month since I last posted. I guess time does fly when you are busy. I think I am going to have to change my routine around a little bit so that I can post more.

I haven't done as much knitting as usual. I have been working with wool and doing some blanket stitching on flannel as well not to mention the applique. I'm sure that will change a little bit next month with the Loopy Camp starting.

Let the updating begin.

I finished a cowl. It is Malabrgio Neck Thingie from Ravelry. I used Liberty Wool instead.

I finished my first hats for sailors, it came out smaller than I thought. I figure it will still work for someone.

It's is actually a Navy blue. Cascade super wash named In The Navy.

I am trying furiously to finish the next finger less glove before Camp Loopy begins. Hope I can get it done.

I have my Camp Loopy yarn and some other yarn that accidentally ended up in my cart. Come back for the report and I will show you the rascals.

On the Needles 4/18/2014

I am making progress. Little by little.

I finished the first of my fingerless gloves. I still have to weave in the ends.

It didn't turn out to bad I don't think. Especially since this is my first time making one.

My hats for sailors is coming along. I was hoping to get to the decreases last night but I had a desire to sew so that is what I did.

 

 

I had and have some yarn coming in but I will wait and post all of that next week. Who knows maybe by then I will have these projects finished and then my numbers won't look to bad.

 

Off to sew and craft but first a Dr. apt for the kiddo since there is no school today. Hopefully the next week will be full of finishes. I only have to work one day and have classes one day out of the next 11...yippee!

Loyal Union Sampler Month 1 - April

I started teaching my Loyal Union Sampler class yesterday. I have 2 classes a month. So to help my peeps out I told them I would post a picture of each block so if they needed a reference they would be here. This way I will also have a nice little reminder of the blocks I did and when.

We are attempting 8 blocks a month so we should be done in 18 months.

A1 - Abel's Favorite. Pretty easy HST and quick pieced flying geese.

A3 - A House Divided - The book has the arrows going the other way but for some reason I decided to beat to my own drum and put them sideways. In reality I just wasn't paying attention and I am not un-sewing it. One of these days I might even get my points to match up better.

A4 - Anneke's Choice -  A paper pieced block that no matter how you look at it is wonky. I just had to call it done.

A5 - Antietam - I love this block a few templates and triangles and you are good to go.

A7 - Beacon Lights - Another one I need to work on not cutting off my points. I have slowed down and I am getting better. I know in the grand scheme of 111 blocks it won't be too noticeable. Another simple pieced block. 

A8 - Best Friend - Points are not my friend. It came out looking a little like Christmas to me. I also learned an easier way to make all those HST.

A9 - Blockade - I call it my taxi cab block. I really like this one and even though it used a template it was easy to put together as well.

A10 - Broken Path - A little bit of rotary cutting and your good to go. Nice to have a quick block thrown in there. We have some tough ones coming up.

 

 

I'm trying to work in rows so we can put them together as we go. There just happened to be a couple of trickier ones at the beginning and I didn't want to scare everyone away at the first class. Next month we will have the A row done and start working on the B row.

 

It will be nice to see every one's blocks. We have some doing blue/white, red/white, scrappy, red/green/white, maroon/brown/blue. They will all look so different. My goal is to not use the same fabrics at all, neither backgrounds or prints. Lets see if that works.

 

Off to get ready for football in the gorgeous 70+ degree weather today before the 40's and snow hit. Welcome to April in Colorado.

On The Needles 4/11/2014

I totally spaced posting last week. My week was in a state of chaos even though I was off. Of course it doesn't help that we totally rearranged the basement which pretty much meant all of my quilt stuff since that is all that is down there. But, that story is for another day.

I did get some knitting done.

I finally finished piece 1 of the Kimono Cardigan for mom. Only have 4 to go.

It will definitely need some blocking since it just want to curl into a nice blob.

 

 

I am also working on a fingerless glove. I only have another inch or so then I can start the gusset for the thumb. I have only done it once before and it wasn't pretty. Hopefully this time will be a little bit easier.

I was really hoping for no stripes but oh well. The other one may not match exactly but that is ok. I have a cowl scheduled to be made for this set as well. Love the yarn though.

 

And because I didn't have enough to do I also cast on a Hats for Sailors. So too many projects and not enough time as usual. I also started the back of the cardigan but have only worked 3 or 4 rows so far.

 

It really looks purple in this photo but honestly it is a dark blue almost navy. Hopefully next time around I will have a picture that is color worthy.

 

I didn't get as much knitting done these last two weeks as I wanted. I spent a lot of time blanket stitching a wall hanging. It is times like this I wish I had more than two hands.
