Yarn Report 2/28/14

My last report was Feb 7. I didn't have much going on since then except for some incoming yarn. I have outgoing this week though.

I bought yarn for the Loopy Challenge and some superwash to make some Hats for Sailors.

Cascade 200 - In the Navy (blue) 220 yards - 2 skeins
                        Blaze (orange) 220 yards - 2 skeins

Jitterbug - Zebra (black and white ) 400 yards - 1 skein (just because)

Lorna's Laces Sport - Cornelia 200 yards - 2 skeins

I also made it to Little Bear Peak so I received some goodies as well. I love the little Loopy Ewe notebook with sticky notes inside. Might have to make the mug mat as well. Of course the kiddos' and hubby already ate the tootsie rolls.

I also finished my nieces sweater.

Just don't look to closely.  Yarn -  Jojoland - Invervention

So for the wonderful numbers, well, if you like red. Hopefully my new routine will allow for some more moving of the numbers.

On the Needles 2/28/2014

I have a finish. It is not the most perfect. Matter of fact I had quit a few bumps along the way. But, for a first time sweater I don't think it was half bad. It made it through the was, not with out problems, so hopefully it won't fall apart anytime soon.

It is still a little damp but it is done. At least my numbers will change on the yarn report. Not that it will make a big difference since I have yarn to add.

Loopy Ewe has the new Spring Challenge out so I bought some yarn for that and started working on a Honey Cowl. I made one already but it was the small version. I am now making the larger version. Hopefully I can get it done in time. I was going to try and participate in the fabric challenge as well but I just have too much stuff to do and I am way behind. Sometimes you just have to say no.

I am using Lorna's Laces in Cornelia. I love the feel of the yarn and even though it wasn't really turning out the way I thought I am rather liking it now. It just looks like a piece of woven fabric. Now to go make some progress on it. Well, after kit cutting, machine piecing and whatever else I can come up with to do.

On the Needles 2/21/14

I have been really busy these last two weeks but it doesn't seem like I have been doing much. Between the weather and the kiddos my life has not been my own.

I am almost done with my first attempt at a sweater. I have one sleeve left. I keep telling myself that a one sleeved sweater will not be a fashion statement.

My goal is to get it finished this weekend. I have a Loopy Ewe package coming with the spring challenge and I only have a month to finish it. That is usually a really short time for me and I have to really work to get it done.

I'm also working on some applique so my time to sit and knit is split and makes it that much harder.

I also re-started the Kimono Cardigan for mom but for some reason it looks really small. I did a swatch and had to change needles but I may have to look at it again. Of course I also decided to start on a front panel vs. the back like before because it was smaller but this looks tiny. May have to put that on the back burner until the challenge is done.

Off to teach a Hexie class then home to sew and knit.

Yarn Report 2/7/2014

I was on a roll. I was being a good girl. I really was. Then I fell in hate with a yarn. Not a slow dislike, disdain, annoyance but a deep hate. It was slippery. It was static filled. It was chalk board screeching annoying. So, what is a girl to do? Well, find some yarn that she wants to use instead, order it, then decide she might as well finally order the other yarn she has been wanting as well.

We all know that one can never have enough yarn.

So I finished my Scaptastic Hat which is about 355 yards (it probably less but for my creative accounting purposes it will work.)

Dream Club - Feb - 1 skein/355yds

Kimono Cardigan - Wool of Andes Superwash in Merlot from Knitpicks 12skeins/1320yards.
Triangle Cardigan - Wool of Andes Bulky from Knitpiks 15skeins/2055 yards.

So the new totals are as follows...oh I have a lot of knitting I must get done.

Used this Week: 1 skeins
Used this Year: 2 skeins
Added this week: 28 skeins
Added this Year: 31 skeins
Net Used this Year : -29 skeins (It looks the same as our weather here)

Used this Week:  355 yards
Used this Year: 755 yards

Added this week: 3735 yards
Added this Year: 4765 yards
Net Used this Year :
-4010 yards (must get knitting)

Reminder red is bad.

On The Needles Friday 2/7/2014

I didn't get to post last week because it was crazy here. Cold weather, snow, more snow, school delays, school closures, snow, snow and well you get my drift. LOL.

I finished my Scaptastic Hat and I absolutely love it. I used Hand Maiden in Walnut.
I really need to find a better way to display these things. 3 jelly rolls under this makes it look kind of weird.

I love, love, love the yarn. I can see some more in my future.

I also started a sweater, first time ever, for my niece. I am figuring it out as I go. I did rip out the beginning about 4 times before I got the hang of it. Hopefully I can do the collar and the sleeves without a problem. I love the yarn as well. Hopefully within a couple of weeks I can finish it too....I have to many things on my list I wanna get to.

This is a pattern from Knitting Pure and Simple. I really think it is awesome. LOL..

I had a sock that I was working on for my 15 minutes a day project but I ripped it out. I knew it was too loose but I kept on going and after I turned the heel I finally smacked myself and said you know this is too loose why do you keep going? Do you really think it is going to miraculously tighten up on you? So, I have to start another project but haven't figured out which one yet.

I have a boat load of yarn that came in today. So my numbers this afternoon are not going to look very good at all.

Remember that cardigan I was working on for my mom? Well, I hated, hated, hated the yarn so I asked if I could find something else. That is what came in. So, now I get to start over on that, better after one piece than five I say.

So, off to figure out my totals for the yarn report.  I may have to go into hiding.

Deisgn Wall 2/3/2014

I think I finally finished my hexie fix. I love them but I am done I think, for now.

Left over honeycombs. I just top stitched down.

Extra one on the back. The pillow fabric is a denim I had floating around.
Directional Fabric and me not getting along.

Candy Dish by Jaybird Quilts. It is nice because one charm pack makes both pillow tops with a little extra yardage.
My display for my hexie class as work. I really wanted to make more but I just have to move on to other things.
