I have been busy knitting for a change. As a matter of fact that is all I have wanted to do which is no good for my Dear Jane or any other sewing for that matter.
I finished my Camp Loopy project 1...
I then finished my first Antartic sock, it is just a plain sock. This was my one attempt at the pooling challenge, which didn't work. Ironically this sock is supposed to pool. Not.
I will spend this weekend working on Dear Jane and then my mom's Kimono cardigan. I told her she may get it by Christmas 2017 at the rate I knit, but it's the thought that counts right.
For more knitty goodies head on over to Judy's.

Loopy Groupie
After purchasing my yarn for month 2 of Camp Loopy I became a Loopy Groupie. Yeah!
I received a wonderful project bag, a little bag of goodies with a bookmark pattern, some Soak, tape measure and a wonderful skein of yarn..oh yeah tootsie rolls too.
I am doing another scarf, still the safest for me right now, and am using a solid aqua color we shall see how this one turns out.

Cascade UltraPima in Aqua.
I will be making the Gathered Scarf. This one will also have new to me stitches so we will see how that goes.
Camp Loopy Project 1-13 is blocking right now. Hopefully I will get a picture tonight and be able to load up to the Loopy Ewe and be here later this week with it.
Off to sew..or maybe browse Ravelry.

On The Needles 1/4/12
I finally have an on the needles post. Of course it looks like I was able to get a lot done but that is because my last post was probably a month ago.
I did finish my purple socks finally, they have even been washed and dried.
I also finished my red scarf. I had originally bought this yarn to make some of the thicker beginner socks that I had been taught with. After, oh about 5 minutes of debating I realized I did like the sock weight or even sport weight better than the worsted weight so I had to decide on something else to do with this yarn. I used one skein to make the scarf and then since I bought two skeins, of course I figured a hat would be good out of the second skein. I am using the 7,8,9 pattern from Ravelry. I decided to do it with size 8 needles since that was the size I used for the scarf. Let me tell you, after working with the smaller size 2.5 needles these feel like water hoses.
I also am, still, working on a sock. I was taught how to knit with the 4 dpns, but this pattern called for 5 and since I am still a novice and it was an easy, peasy sock I am following the instructions to the letter. I have found that, so far, I do like using the extra needles. I don't get such a big gap when switching from one needle to another, which I get the other way no matter how tight I pull the first couple of stitches. I am sure I will get better as I go along. I sure hope I get brave enough to try some other patterns soon as well. At times it gets really boring using the same pattern over and over again.
I also bought a pattern to make a Kimono cardigan but that will have to wait awhile. I am really going to have to set some of this knitting aside to get some of these Dear Jane blocks appliqued but it is really hard to do....I also wish I was a speedy knitter but that isn't so.
I also received a lovely gift card from my Dear Jane students for Christmas. So of course I went and bought some yarn, figured it would be easier to move than fabric.
I also finished a scarf for my mother, in that lovely ribbon twirly stuff but forgot to get a picture. Maybe I can make that my next weeks post.
I probably won't be able to post another needles Friday for awhile, well I could but it would probably be the exact same thing in the exact same spot, but I will be back. I just have to move houses and get settled in first. Yarn is great...goes in buckets and is pretty light to move. Fabric...well we won't go there.
For more on the needles head on over to Judy's. I so love going out and about on the various blogs to see what others are up to. Although, it does add to my "want to do list".
Have a great day,
Michelle

On the needles 06/08/2012
I am a new knitter because I really needed another craft to learn...but I enjoy it more than crocheting. I am just really slow at it. Of course I have a tendency to procrastinate and don't do it as much as I would like. My intention is always to sit and knit or applique or crochet while watching TV but I admit there are many times I sit and do nothing or read a book. Man..if I actually used all the "sitting on my ads" (ok my friend and I were texting back and forth about what we were doing and her auto correct said ads instead of aqq) I would have a bagillion things done completed..
Anywho..this is a free scarf pattern from www.purlbee.com that I found while procrastinating on the Internet. I figured for me it would still be easy enough (it is just plain knitting) to get better at knitting and actually get something accomplished.
I figure this could be on my "on the needles Friday" every Friday for a very long time but I am hoping that knowing I have a semi-deadline it might help be to spend my time more productively.
I guess I really could have shown some major progress since I was unable to sleep last night. I actually went to bed, fell asleep for maybe 30 minutes then woke up hot...tossed and turned for an hour, got up for about 20 minutes, back to bed, got back up and finally went to bed at 530am, heard hubby get up around 630, and the next thing I know the birds are squawking me awake at 945. Talk about making for a short day...now I am off to pack some projects to take to the pool. I am such a nice mother and told my kiddos we would go....What was I thinking?
Have a wonderful day everyone.

Head on over to Judy's to see some more needle Friday fun.

May Day May Day....I should have stayed home
really I should have. I figured going to a yarn store would not be that bad right? I mean no fabric what harm could there be...well...I know now I can not go into any yarn stores or fabric stores without some serious damage to the pocketbook.
I am taking a beginning knitting class at a local yarn store. I had taken quite a few classes and a big box store and spent a lot of money and learned nothing. I mean I had already you tubed a bagillion videos on knitting and purling so I pretty much had that done...well once I realized I was purling wrong but that is besides the point. Anyway, I came home from one of my last classes and I was really upset. I spent all this time and couldn't figure anything out...I didn't know how to TINK, recognize my stitches, etc. etc.
So my trusty yahoo search brought up Green Valley Weavers and "oh! they are open on Sunday" so back in the car I go to browse and then "oh! you have a beginning knitting class starting in a couple of weeks and it is on a Sunday"...well you know how that went. Anyway, I have been to three classes and honestly in the first hour of the first class I learned more than all of my other classes combined. Our project is a teddy bear sweater and I am almost done but the best part of this whole scenario is that I LOVE LOVE LOVE to knit. I am not very good at it and I am slow but that is OK. (My family loves it as well because I am not screaming out my numbers so that they don't interrupt me because now I know how to figure out where i am at if I stop.)
Fast forward to today...I was procrastinating getting up into the studio. Why? I don't really know. So I figured I would head on down to Green Valley...well...here is what happened.
I had seen this pattern on Purlbee, The Sunshine Scarf, and fell in love with it. I don't know if it was the colors or what and the best part is that it is a very simple pattern (as a newbie I like this even more). I also wanted to pick up a couple of those thingamajigs that have the crochet hook on one end and knitting needle on the other. I figured that was a very good reason to head on down there (it is about a 25 minute drive from my house if the weather is good..you know the complete other side of town).
Can you tell where this is going?
Happy May Day,
Michelle

These are my choices.
The gray one is Quicksilver, and the gold is Gold Dust (makes sense huh). These two come from a local dyer. Spruce Dragon, LLC out of Divide, Co. The last one is Cascade Yarns Heritage Silk Paints color 9801. I told myself I couldn't start working on this until after I get at least half way done on my crochet project. Lets see how long that will last.
I am also waiting for a sock class to start that coincides with my schedule. I really want to make socks so this is what I ended up with. These are just some worsted weight yarns in my favorite color (of the moment). I was instructed to make my first pair with worsted weight yarn and then move on from there to the light weight and fingering which made perfect sense to me. Who knows maybe one of these days I can actually make a pair of socks out of the book my hubby bought for me..(The Joy of Socks"
Then of course I needed the needles, and the tapestry needles, and the highlighter tape (which I think is totally awesome) and of course my thingamajigs.
So the moral of my story...stay out of the fabric, yarn and of course the book store unless I go in with an allowance or no checkbook, no credit card, no debit card and maybe I should take a kiddo or hubby with me...hmmm not a good idea either.Happy May Day,
Michelle
