Sylvia's Bridal Sampler, it is so long I put the first blocks on the ceiling. Hubby thought it was quit interesting. There are more blocks hidden behind the bow tie blocks.
Dear Jane is starting to come together. It has been a bad word around here for quit a few months. I am just ready for it to be done. We have about 50 blocks left. So by the time we are done it will have been a little over 2 years that we have been working on it. The scary thing....I am seriously considering doing another one....am I crazy or what.
I finally finished my bow tie blocks that I had been working on as leaders and enders. I know Bonnie Hunter and the crew finished awhile ago and moved onto spools but I just had too many left to do. But now these are ready to be sewn together and I already have started another leader and ender project. More on that later.
I tried to get the complete picture here but with the hallway not cooperating this was the best I could go. I sewed these into 9 patches and now have to sew them together. It is going to be a 9x7 setting I think or something crazy like that.
Now, I need an opinion. Should I find a border to put on it or just bind it. I am thinking of just binding it but then what color should I bind it. I don't have anymore of the cheddar. I thought about black and I also thought about scrappy. What do you think?

'chelle, I didn't put a border on my bowties quilt because it was already super-sized. I made mine from 30s repro fabrics, so I did the binding scrappy. Tell the DH I love the design wall, thank you!
ReplyDeleteA muddy blue or green would look nice as binding. I don't think it needs borders.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the other 2, no borders. I'd bind it in blue, and a bright blue, too, if you have one. There is a blue bowtie down in the bottom left that would look fabulous as binding.

ReplyDeleteA scrappy Binding would be fitting for the Bow ties. Mine are being sashed in a "cheddar-like" color. I made blocks of 9 like Bonnie did. Awkward to photograph the hall design wall. Glad you have one now though!I turned my SBS sideways to fit on the wall. 14 rows is hard to fit on vertically.
ReplyDeleteSo many great projects going on! How lucky you are to have plenty of design wall space to show it all off. My Dear Jane is new this year and not nearly as far along as yours. The end is in sight if you just keep oint!
ReplyDeletebowtie is such a great block - yours looks fantastic with so much variety of fabrics! I wouldn't put a boarder on, and I'd probably use a navy blue to bind.

ReplyDeleteI'd use a dark solid for the binding. I think a scrappy border would be too much for this quilt.

ReplyDeleteI love all of these projects! I vote foe a scrappy binding with no border for your bow ties. They real;y look great!
ReplyDeleteI could confuse things and say to use a red for the binding, but I like the suggestion for a blue one. glad I don't have to choose which project I like more.
ReplyDeleteI am of the theory that RED is the perfect color for a binding every time!! Especially on scrappy.
ReplyDeleteOk...decision made no borders and hopefully a blue binding. Unfortunately this may be on the dw for awhile. Have a sample for class to finish, 2 schnibbles for upcoming classes to finish and Dear Jane and Sylvia's to keep up with...I need more days in the week.
